Sophia KIM

Sophia Kim, Pianiste

Née en 1968, Sophia a commencé ses etudes en musique dans sa Séoul natal, à l’école renommée Sunwha Art School. Elle a eu son diplôme supérieur au Chung-Ang University en Corée. Elle était étudiante boursière au Royal Conservatory of Music de Toronto (Diplôme de Performance) où elle avait comme professeurs Marietta Orlov et James Anagnoson. Suk Kim, Young-Ja Choi et Chi-Ho Cho était aussi ses professeurs principaux. Elle a gagné le Sam-Ick Piano Competition à Séoul en 1980.

Mme Kim a joué avec, entre autres, l’Orchestre Symphonique d’Incheon en 1989. Elle a également suivi des master classes à l’ International Sommerakademic Mozarteum à Salzbourg, Autriche, et poursuit aujourd’hui son doctorat en musique de chambre pour piano et accompagnement au Ball State University, où elle étudie avec le professeur Robert Palmer.

Sophia Kim, Pianist

Born in 1968, Sophia began her musical studies in her native Seoul, Korea at the famed Sunwha Art School. She graduated from Chung-Ang University with a first-class degree in Music in Korea. She was a scholarship student at the Royal Conservatory of Music (Performance Diploma) in Toronto, studying under Prof. Marietta Orlov and James Anagnoson. Her principal piano teachers have included Suk Kim, Young-Ja Choi, Chi-Ho Cho. She was a winner of the 1980 Sam-Ick Piano Competition in Seoul, Korea.

She performed with the symphony Orchestra of Incheon in 1989. She also attended the International Sommerakademic Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria for master classes. Now she is doing her doctoral degree in piano chamber music/accompaniment at Ball State University, studying under the distinguished piano professor, Robert Palmer.
