Dr Roland Silverstein


Kathleen Roland soprano, chante en soliste aussi bien dans le domaine de l’opéra que dans celui de la musique orchestrale. Elle a exercé ses talents dans de nombreux festivals musicaux, dont le Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival, le Britten-Pears Institute en Angleterre et le Tanglewood Music Festival; elle a chanté avec des chefs d’orchestre reconnus, tels que James Conlon, Kent Nagano, John Mauceri, Reinbert de Leeuw et Oliver Knussen. Elle fut remarqué par la critique en chantant avec l’Orchestre Philharmonique de Los Angeles et a obtenu les « grammy awards » avec la Southwest Chamber Music Society, les Pacific Serenades, le Los Angeles Jewish Symphony, les San Francisco Contemporary Music Players et l’ensemble milanais MDI. Parmi ses enregistrements, on trouve des chansons du compositeur américain Libby Larsen, « Licorice Stick », et la chanson « Aura » du compositeur Cambodgien Chinary Ung. Madame Roland détient un doctorat d’arts musicaux et de performances vocales de l’université de Californie du Sud, c’est une universitaire du programme Fulbright qui a fait partie de la fondation Américo-Scandinave. Elle est membre de la NATS et éditrice du journal de l’association de l’opéra national. Elle a été membre du personnel enseignant de l’université de Scripps college à Claremont l’an passé en tant que Visiting Assistant Professor (professeur assistant extérieur).	Soprano Kathleen Roland is an active soloist in the realms of both opera and orchestral music. A featured singer with many music festivals, including the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival, the Britten-Pears Institute in England and the Tanglewood Music Festival, the singer has sung with many notable conductors, including James Conlon, Kent Nagano, John Mauceri, Reinbert de Leeuw and Oliver Knussen. She has sung, to critical acclaim, with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, Grammy award-winning Southwest Chamber Music Society, Pacific Serenades, the Los Angeles Jewish Symphony, the San Francisco Contemporary Music Players, and the mdi ensemble milano. Recent engagements include concerts in Scandinavia, with Southwest Chamber Music in Southeast Asia, in Germany with Ensemble Milano, a Disney Hall appearance with the Los Angeles Master Chorale as soloist in a newly commissioned work by Chinary Ung, and with the San Francisco Contemporary Music Players. Recordings include songs of American composer Libby Larsen, Licorice Stick", and Cambodian composer Chinary Ung, "Aura". Ms. Roland holds a Doctorate of Musical Arts in vocal performance from the University of Southern California, and is a Fulbright scholar and former American Scandinavian Foundation grantee. She is a member of NATS, and serves as editor of the National Opera Association newsletter, NOTES. She has been a member of the faculty, as Visiting Assistant Professor, at Scripps College in Claremont this past year.

Dr. Kathleen Roland-Silverstein, soprano, Dr. Louise Lofquist, pianist, and a baritone will be singing the scenes, and Dr. Roland-Silverstein will present the lecture.
